Sierra Fernandez
Strategy, Learning, and Evaluation Associate
Ms. Sierra Fernandez is a strategy, evaluation, and learning associate at KHA. Her background includes work in psychological science, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and collegiate retention and completion efforts in communities subjected to intersecting oppressions. Currently an adjunct professor at Luna Community College in allied health sciences and humanities, Ms. Fernandez teaches introduction to psychology and developmental psychology to first- and second-year students.
As a community advocate, Ms. Fernandez has worked with the New Mexico Office of Substance Abuse Prevention to implement a county-wide drug prevention program. Sierra is also an active volunteer for the Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to restore the beneficial hydrological and ecological properties of clean and healthy rivers.
Ms. Fernandez has an MS in psychology from New Mexico Highlands University and a BS in psychology, with a minor in statistics, from The University of New Mexico. She is published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented research at numerous national conferences.
A passionate supporter of ecological sustainability, Ms. Fernandez has a long-standing interest in environmental psychology and environmental justice. Sierra was born in Ontario, Canada, but currently resides in the high mountain plains of northern New Mexico.
